About 15 years ago, I had the enormous pleasure of enjoying an evening, hosted by Food & Wine expert Roland Birr. Fascinated by his unique approach to all things culinary, I decided to explore the chance of a professional collaboration. In 2012 we hosted and catered together a most memorable event for the Chaine des Rotisseurs in the grounds of the süectacular Zabola Estate.
In the following years, we subsequently became partners and true friends hosting Transylvanian Gourmet Weekends at the Valea Verde and catering for special occasions together in Romania, Germany, Denmark, Finland and Scotland.
In Roland Birr´s book “Larger Than Life” Roland is introducing his readers to his very personal view on wine, the deep connection he feels with the cultures and regions he works in and shares recipes. I have got to know Roland´s intellectual side during many serious conversations (usually by the fire-side)...
One or the five regions (out of the countless regions and countries Roland works in) are being featured in the book and I am so proud that he chose Transylvania and the Valea Verde as one of those. I have contributed a few recipes that the Valea Verde Restaurant has developed, which can be found in the book.
